The original glacier skydivers

Welcome to Skydive Fox Glacier

We are the original glacier skydivers. Since 1997 we have taken over 30,000 very happy customers on the ride of a lifetime. In 2016 we have been voted the most scenic skydive in the world by, and and The Lonely Planet says that only Mt Everest could possibly beat Fox Glacier for a scenic skydiving experience.

Just In… has voted SKYDIVE FOX GLACIER the best skydive in New Zealand. A BIG thanks to all those who voted.

Our leisurely flight to altitude takes us around the Westland National Park, over subtropical rainforests, rivers, lakes, the Tasman sea, New Zealand’s highest mountains – Mt Tasman and Aoraki/Mt Cook – and of course the largest glaciers and snow fields in the Southern Alps. No other Skydive Company in New Zealand can offer these views, winter or summer.

We take care of everything, so all you have to do, is concentrate on the magnificent scenery and the ultimate freefall experience you will never forget.

Fox or Franz Josef? Which glacier is better for skydiving?

We are the original Glacier Skydivers. We have been jumping here since 1997. We had the choice of the two glaciers for our base. Both Fox Glacier and Franz Josef are unbelievable sights. Franz Josef is a great town and has a wide selection of accommodation, so for people that stay there we provide complimentary transfers to our base. We operate from both Franz Josef & Fox Glacier – but all check ins are in Franz Josef.

What times are the jumps and how do I book?

We’re open 364 days a year, and you can book online and choose the time you’d like to skydive. Wanting a recommendation? Go with the early or the late slots – the weather is often calmer, and the light is softer – making for more epic photos!

What weather conditions do we jump in?

Skydiving is weather dependant but great news – we’ve got the flexibility to jump from both Franz Josef and Fox Glacier. Ring us – Freephone 0800 4 JUMPS (58677) – to confirm if you are worried about the weather, as it can be very different between Fox Glacier and Franz Josef.

What is the most popular height to jump from?

The most popular height is 20,000ft above ground level, 7,500ft above Aoraki / Mt Cook with views of the East & West Coasts, including Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki . From 20,000ft you will have 85+ seconds of freefall. From 16,500ft you will have 70+ seconds of freefall at 200 kph (120 mph). Oxygen is provided in the aircraft for all skydives.

If you are not quite up for the higher altitude, the 13,000ft skydive is an option, you will exit the aircraft level with the top of Aoraki/Mt. Cook with spectacular views of the glaciers, rainforests and the West Coast, and have 45+ seconds of freefall.

Not sure what height you want? Book with us over the phone and you can decide everything on the day when you check-in at our office.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept NZ$, EFTPOS, Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, AMEX, Alipay & WeChat Pay.

How do I get to Skydive Fox?

Check in for all our skydives is at our office on the Main Road of Franz Josef. We’re right next to Full of Beans Cafe, next door to the petrol station.

What do I wear?

Wear reasonably warm clothing and sand shoes or sturdy shoes. We will provide jumpsuits, gloves, goggles (glasses or contact lenses are not a problem) and helmets.

Will I see snow in the summer?

Yes. The head of the Fox Glacier has some of the biggest and most spectacular snowfields in New Zealand. As the snow and ice move down the valley giant crevasses open up. It is a sight of such grandeur that it must be seen to be believed. Our flight to altitude will take you over the glacier and snowfields, summer and winter. This is why we know we have the most spectacular skydiving experience in New Zealand.

Is there a weight limit or any medical limitations?

We can accommodate up to 120 kgs depending on physical condition, anyone over 100kg will need to be assessed in person by one of our senior staff just to be on the safe side. Please let us know if you have any medical conditions – most will not stop you skydiving, but your safety is our primary concern and we can advise you if you have any concerns.

Can I take my own camera on the jump?

Unfortunately, due to safety regulations, you are not able to take your own camera on the jump, however we do offer very affordable photo and video packages to remember this life changing event……leave it up to the professionals!

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Skydiving is weather dependant and we are concerned with your safety. Changes to booking date/time can be made, with at least 48 hours notice, without any charge. If Skydive Fox Glacier cancel the jump due to weather conditions, you will receive a 100% refund or you’ll be able to switch it to any of our other dropzones which includes Skydive Abel Tasman (above the  Abel Tasman National Park) and Skydive Mt. Cook (jumping above Lake Pukaki with incredible views of Aoraki/Mt Cook).

Happy customers

Just wanted to say thanks for the amazing experience on October 1! My first skydive and I was so nervous, but Mauro did an awesome job of keeping me calm and making me feel safe. Can’t wait to jump again! Also, sorry Mauro for my dreads in your face :) Muchas gracias!

The jump was incredible. I’m 58 and if you think you’re too old, you’re not. My jump instructor was fantastic, everything you would want on your first jump. PS Do the 16,500ft jump, nothing’s like it.
